After Our Thanksgiving Feast we immediately started on our annual Christmas Feast. We first Called DSS to get the names of families and elderly who needed food as well as toys for kids. We were having trouble getting the things we needed for the food boxes as well as toys for the kids. So the Fayetteville Observer stepped in and wrote a story for us stating we needed donations. People came out of the woodwork just to help us out . We received toys, clothes, and food. Several people came out of their wallets and donated money for some of the things we needed such as turkeys and hams. On December  22, 2007 we had the City Rescue Mission Annual Christmas Feast. We had Santa, toys , clothes, and food. We helped families that were in need with 100 food boxes and toys for Christmas. Also the Life Scout Mikey Ledford came with book bags that he has been collecting items for since be fore Thanksgiving.  We had a good turn out at our feast, our  Executive Director Gladys D. Thompson made a welcome speech which didn’t just move us it moved her to tears. We would also like to thank St. Ann’s Catholic church and Father Thom for donating  their Parish Hall, as made a welcome speech which didn’t just move us it moved her to tears.  We would also like to thank St. Ann’s Catholic church and Father Thom for donating  their Parish Hall, as well as the Sister Connection from Falling Run Missionary Baptist Church who helped by passing out food, clothes, coats, and bags.  Why, Why, Why

Why haven’t people did more for them than sitting around finding fault see the need of families who’s life is very thin.

Why can’t they move on in life to live with peace and not strife. Yes the word is why.

But there is an answer to every why.

There is a because to married the but.

It will produce a picture.

Like this

Because I did not have a good Job because I could not keep my vows with my family.

Then I caught up with the demon of drugs and my life was destroyed.

The hold it has on me it has taken me to a world of darkness and ignorance. But if I can just get a piece of bread that will help me. Why want someone hear me now my cloths are dirty. My Feet is cold

But if you help me one day my why will turn into Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

I wanted to do some outreach ministry. I met Mrs. Gladys Thompson at my doctors office. And she encourage me to come to the Mission. Being that I had experience in Philadelphia working in shelter I came to look around and were very excited at what I saw.

I saw the need of help. Now I can live. You haven’t live for God until you help some body. You have to give of yourself in order to feel the love of Jesus his passion has power. This gives us Joy with our compassion for others.

What have you learn from the Mission?

I have learn to keep helping people no matter what their condition is. The more they give out to the public. The more love is shown.

Being an Evangelist at this mission How has it helped  you?

1. It has given me knowledge about Fayetteville, NC homeless

2. It has made the Sister Connection Outreach more workable than before. We are able to be the right hand for City Rescue Mission Christmas Feast we help cater and served food.

3. This has made me know that the lord did send me to help the City Rescue Mission.

4. I love this Mission and the things they do. They really love the work they do. They are concern about the families, whether they are large or small. I watch during the Christmas season how Mrs. Thompson even went in her pocket to make sure a family was alright. This is my kind of person. Giving of herself . May God Bless Her Always.
